Mahabadi Girl

This clay relief panel features a Kurdish girl in traditional dress, playing the tambourine at the center of the composition. Behind her, the columns of the ancient tomb of Faqre Qah are depicted. To the left, above the panel, the ancient monuments of the Red Mosque, the tomb of Badagh al-Sultan, and the Qol Gulag mountain are shown. On the right side of the panel, there is an image of the entrance to Seholan cave, with pigeons nesting inside. The red bridge of Mahabad and the river flowing beneath it blend seamlessly with the motifs on the girl’s skirt and the intricate Golmirzai pattern, traditionally woven by Kurdish women.
