The Mirror: The mirror holds a profound and valuable symbolic meaning in Iranian culture and art. It represents purity, honesty, and a heart free from deceit and impurity. Hence, for Persians, a tarnished mirror has always been considered inauspicious. This belief led to the tradition of enclosing mirrors in protective doors. Additionally, the mirror frame itself, as one of the most beautiful and unique artistic creations, carries another symbolic layer: the facets of the human personality. In essence, the wooden or cardboard frame symbolizes the fragile, earthly body of a human, destined to perish after death, just as the frame might deteriorate over time. However, the mirror represents the human soul, which is eternal, much like the mirror itself, which may shatter but never lose its reflective essence. The Mirror Frame: This particular frame is crafted from jujube wood, renowned for its strength, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Working with this wood is more challenging and time-consuming than other types. To ensure the frame withstands changes in weather and humidity over time, it is constructed from small, hollow pieces, yet remains remarkably sturdy. The frame was created by Master Ali Vadjani, a distinguished artist in the field of Iranian wood crafts. The floral design is a combination of iris and immortelle, and the intricate carvings on the edge and the back of the door are adorned with acrylic, gouache, and watercolor paintings. The border is embellished with traditional Persian motifs and two calligraphic panels, each containing a verse by the renowned Iranian poet Sa'ib Tabrizi: "Never harbor resentment in your heart for anyone. A mirror forgets whatever it sees." (This implies that just as a mirror doesn't retain the images it reflects, our hearts should not hold onto grudges and animosity.) The entire piece is coated with varnish, ensuring the colors remain vibrant and long-lasting.
