Azita Vahdat Doust, a painter and writer, was born in 1972 in Tabriz. She began her journey into the world of painting in 1999. However, her true starting point came when, at the age of five, she climbed the stairs of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and saw children immersed in painting. Upon noticing her, the instructor invited her to join the group with a sheet of paper and a box of colored pencils, gently whispering in her ear that the theme of the competition was "our representation of space."

Many years passed, and Azita Vahdat Doost graduated from high school with a diploma in the experimental sciences and completed her university education in laboratory sciences. However, she never forgot art and continued to engage with it as part of her life. In 1999, after seeing a design by a friend, she rediscovered her boundless love for painting and embarked on an endless journey in the world of art. She learned from renowned and famous teachers from Tabriz and Tehran and tirelessly dedicated herself to studying, practicing, and persevering in the pursuit of art. Her goals in this path were of great importance to her, as she has participated in 11 solo exhibitions and several group exhibitions in Iran, Sweden, Armenia, and Turkey, showcasing her works.

She also earned the second prize in the "Portrait" section of the "One Day with Heydar Baba" painting festival. In 2025, one of her works was selected as one of the chosen pieces in the first Artogenia painting competition held in Belgium. As a result of her efforts, Azita Vahdat Doost was elected to the board of directors of the Tabriz Painters Association.

Her quest for fresh and unique subjects opened the doors to the world of writing. She began writing short stories and creating paintings for each story, founding a new method that is unique in its own right.

Her works have been published in two books to date. The first is a prestigious book titled "Tabrizim," or "My Tabriz," which was first published in 2017 and received great attention from readers. Due to its popularity, it was reprinted shortly after. The paintings in the book were created with oil painting techniques. The first section of the book includes stories and paintings of the Tabriz Bazaar, while the second section features paintings of black-and-white photographs from the Qajar era, which have been reinterpreted in color, each accompanied by a story.

The second book, "Memories Through Time," was published in March 2024. Like the first, it combines painting and short stories.

A glance at Azita Vahdat Doost's artistic works reveals how she intentionally portrays herself in the past and, in confronting events, links herself to the present, much like the fusion of color and words in her works. Sometimes this leads to the definition of imagination and reality together, and sometimes it explores what is etched in her mind with a purposeful contradiction, independent of each other. The stories are often written as accounts of real memories, and the painted images serve as time machines, transporting us across memories in an instant, with just a glance and focus.

Among her works, Azita Vahdat Doost’s devotion to her memories and her commitment and reverence to the history of her hometown serve as the primary source of inspiration for her creations.
